ChairSide Imaging

Operating Systems

  • Supported operating systems are the same as the Tracker System Requirements.

Hardware for Acquiring Images

For Wi-Fi digital camera functionality you will need:

  • An SD memory compatible camera
  • WiFi card
  • Wireless router

Intraoral Video Capture

  • A video capture card, or a video card with capture capabilities, that supports Direct X 8.0 or later. ATI Radeon cards have been used successfully in many offices with CSI.
  • An intraoral video camera properly installed with the capture card.  If your camera has S-Video or Composite output, your capture card must have S-Video or Composite input.
  • USB and FireWire cameras do not require a video capture card.

TWAIN device capture

  • A TWAIN compliant scanner or digital camera.  Contact the manufacturer to inquire about TWAIN support for your device.
  • Properly installed TWAIN drivers.

Graphic files (JPEG, TIF, Bitmap, etc)

  • A file storage device such as a hard drive, CD-RW, floppy disk, or zip drive.

Digital Radiography

  • CSI can acquire directly from several Digital Radiography sources.
  • Please contact us if you are interested in using CSI to acquire from a Digital Radiography source that is not currently listed.

Disk Space Requirements

Disk Space requirements for CSI depend on the type and volume of images you plan on using. Here we have provided a quick reference on the different types of images and their sizes to help you estimate your disk space requirements. Keep in mind that some acquisition methods can be set for resolution and this will affect the storage size of images.

  • Bitewing size Xray 150-500 KB
  • Pan / Ceph Size Xray 500-3000 KB
  • IntraOral 20 -150 KB
  • Digital Still Camera 200-1000 KB

CSI stores images in a lossless compression format in order to minimize disk usage while not sacrificing any quality. Read here for more details

ChairSide Imaging requires a printer with 16MB of RAM minimum.  32MB is recommended if you intend to print images to your laser printer.
